reading 5

1. The theme of this reading was to demonstrate two different decrees about christanity. Both of these speeches had similar messages, and were delivered from Godly men. There were some differences in the speeches. Especially in the area of dealing with non believers and war. Urban pushed to destroy a rival that didn't believe. Where as Robert the Monk preached peace.

2. One thing that stood out to me was that Urban refrenced Gods word multiple times and used bible veruses in his speech. Robert the Monk didn't have an direct versuses from the bible. Although I felt like Robert's speech was more of the common Christian believe today.

3. This reading generated the new idea of whether or not people like Urban were actually lead by God to preach his ideas. I feel like any man could make a claim like God has chosen me to speak through me to gain the attention of the people and express his own beliefs.

4. This reading connects to present day because almost everything mentioned in both decrees are preached today. Christians are still trying to follow the word of God as closely as they can. Also in present day instead of having decrees with have pastors who preach these similar ideas to the people of God.

5. Christianity is a main focus in our book, and it helped mold the Western civilaztion together. This reading connects to the studies of christianity within our texts books. Nuns and Bishops are also major elements are major elements of our books, and they are important in this reading.
